that two significant statements appeared today in the Nepali press. (For background on this, see the Kasama posting Ominous Development.)Kiran:
“The special committee’s decision to hand over weapons key on Thursday by 5 pm is an attempt to disarm and dissolve People’s Liberation Army. The decision has opposed standing and central committee decisions of the party which had decided to hand over the keys after the modality and rehabilitation packages have been finalized.”Gaurav:
“The keys to arms containers won’t be handed over today… There are differing opinions within the party; any single person can not make the decision. The party has not made any decision in this regard.”It is also being claimed that the new Prime Minister Bhattarai is acting directly against a decision of the Party this week.
